Polestar 4 Discounts Drop Its Price Below the New Chevy Bolt

Polestar has created one of the most unusual EV pricing moments in the U.S. market this year.

Luxury EVs and budget EVs usually sit in completely different price brackets.

Not right now.

Thanks to one of the biggest manufacturer incentives we’ve seen this year, the Polestar 4, a premium electric crossover that normally starts at $57,800, can now be purchased for as little as $32,800 with a qualifying cash purchase in the U.S.

That puts it below the starting price of the new Chevrolet Bolt RS, which begins at roughly $32,995.

It’s a rare situation in the EV market, where a premium vehicle is suddenly competing on price with one of America’s most affordable electric cars.

A $25,000 Incentive Changes Everything

The dramatic price drop comes from a $25,000 Polestar Clean Vehicle Incentive on new 2026 Polestar 4 models purchased with cash.

The offer is valid through July 31, 2026, while inventory lasts.

Vehicle Starting MSRP Current Price*
Polestar 4 RWD $57,800 $32,800
Chevrolet Bolt RS ~$32,995 ~$32,995

*Before taxes, registration, and destination fees where applicable.

It’s rare to see a vehicle in the luxury segment priced this aggressively, especially one that arrived so recently.

Why Is Polestar Offering Such Large Discounts?

The discounts are not random.

They come as Polestar works to clear remaining U.S. inventory following regulatory changes that are expected to prevent the company from selling new imported models in the United States beginning with the 2027 model year under the Commerce Department’s Connected Vehicle rule.

Existing inventory, however, can still be sold.

Rather than holding vehicles, Polestar appears focused on moving inventory quickly through unusually large incentives.

For buyers, that creates an opportunity that rarely shows up in the luxury EV market.

You’re Still Getting a Premium EV

The discount may be huge, but the vehicle itself has not changed.

The Polestar 4 still offers:

  • Up to 310 miles of EPA-estimated range on the Long Range Single Motor version
  • Rear-wheel drive or dual-motor all-wheel drive
  • Google Built-in with Android Automotive
  • Premium minimalist Scandinavian interior design
  • Advanced driver-assistance technology
  • Fast DC charging capability

In terms of design, materials, and performance, the Polestar 4 competes with vehicles like the Tesla Model Y, Porsche Macan Electric, BMW iX, and Audi Q6 e-tron, not entry-level EVs.

Should Buyers Be Concerned?

One obvious question is what happens after Polestar stops selling new vehicles in the U.S.

While the company is winding down future U.S. sales, existing owners are still expected to receive service support through Polestar’s retail and Volvo service network. Warranty coverage also remains in place for vehicles already sold.

Still, buyers should understand that future parts availability, software support, and resale values could be affected by the brand’s changing position in the American market.

Final Thoughts

It’s not often that a luxury EV becomes cheaper than one of the country’s most affordable electric cars.

The Polestar 4’s $25,000 incentive has created exactly that situation.

For buyers who were already considering an EV and do not mind purchasing from a brand exiting the U.S. market, the current pricing is hard to ignore.

A vehicle that normally competes in the premium segment is now available for roughly the same money as a mainstream electric hatchback.

Whether this opportunity lasts beyond July will depend on remaining inventory, but for now, it stands out as one of the most aggressive EV discounts currently available in the U.S. market.
