Mercedes-AMG has officially entered a new era.

Mercedes-AMG added a synthetic V8 sound system using more than 1,600 sound samples designed to recreate the feel of a traditional AMG engine.

- Paddle-triggered “shift jolts”
- Artificial rev behavior
- Seat vibrations tied to acceleration
Some enthusiasts will probably hate it.
Others may actually appreciate that AMG is at least trying to preserve some emotional connection as performance cars become electric.
Design Still Feels Like An AMG
Even though it’s fully electric, Mercedes clearly avoided making the car look like a generic EV sedan.
The new AMG GT keeps:

- Wide rear haunches
- Aggressive stance
- Large illuminated AMG grille
- Active aerodynamic elements
The drag coefficient reportedly drops to around 0.22 Cd, which is extremely low for a high-performance four-door.
Inside, the cabin is heavily digital:

- 14-inch center infotainment screen
- Optional passenger display
- AMG-specific performance software and telemetry
Mercedes Is Targeting Porsche And Lucid
The positioning here is obvious.
Mercedes-AMG is aiming directly at cars like:

- Lucid Air Sapphire
- Tesla Model S Plaid
But AMG seems less interested in simply winning a horsepower war.
The company is trying to prove that a fully electric performance car can still feel dramatic, emotional, and unmistakably AMG.
That’s a much harder challenge.
