Lexus Unveils Three-Row TZ Electric SUV With 300 Mile Range

Lexus is officially entering one of the fastest-growing EV segments: the three-row electric SUV market.

The brand has unveiled the all-new Lexus TZ, its first fully electric SUV with three rows of seating, and it’s clearly aimed at buyers who want luxury, practicality, and long-range capability in one package. With up to 300 miles of estimated range, the TZ becomes Lexus’ largest EV yet and a direct competitor to models like the Rivian R1S, Volvo EX90, and Cadillac VISTIQ.

Lexus Is Finally Going Bigger in EVs

Until now, Lexus’ EV lineup has been relatively limited, led mostly by the smaller RZ crossover.

The TZ changes that.

Built as a three-row luxury SUV, the new model is designed for families and long-distance driving rather than just urban commuting. Lexus describes the vehicle as a “Driving Lounge,” focusing heavily on cabin quietness, ride comfort, and spaciousness.

The design also marks a shift for Lexus EVs.

Instead of the softer styling seen on earlier electric models, the TZ has a more upright and aggressive SUV stance, with sharper body lines, slim lighting signatures, and a more premium overall presence.

Up to 300 Miles of Range

Lexus says select TZ trims will offer up to 300 miles of manufacturer-estimated range. The SUV will launch with two battery options:

  • 77 kWh battery pack
  • 95.8 kWh battery pack

All versions come standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive, which is expected to deliver strong performance and improved traction in all weather conditions.

Charging speeds are competitive, though not class-leading:

  • Up to 150 kW DC fast charging
  • Lexus estimates a 10%–80% charge in around 35 minutes

The SUV will also adopt the NACS charging standard, giving drivers access to Tesla Supercharger infrastructure in North America.

Interior Focuses on Comfort Over Flash

Inside, Lexus is clearly prioritizing comfort and space.

The TZ offers:

  • Standard three-row seating
  • Available six-seat configuration with captain’s chairs
  • Heated and ventilated front and second-row seats
  • One-touch folding second and third rows

Lexus also claims the TZ may be the quietest SUV cabin the brand has ever built, using extra sound insulation and aerodynamic improvements to reduce road and wind noise.

Higher trims are expected to include features like:

  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Bamboo interior trim
  • Mark Levinson audio system
  • Rear-seat relaxation features

Performance Still Matters

Even though the TZ is focused heavily on comfort, Lexus hasn’t ignored performance.

While full powertrain details are still limited, reports suggest higher trims could produce more than 400 horsepower, potentially matching related Toyota and Subaru EV platforms.

Lexus is also offering:

  • DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system
  • Available rear-wheel steering
  • Adaptive regenerative braking

There’s even an optional feature that simulates the sound of the legendary Lexus LFA V10 engine through the cabin speakers — a detail that shows Lexus still wants the TZ to feel emotional despite being electric.

Pricing and U.S. Launch Timing

Official pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but early estimates place the TZ somewhere between $65,000 and $75,000, depending on trim and battery configuration.

The Lexus TZ is expected to arrive in the U.S. in late 2026 as a 2027 model-year vehicle.

Final Thoughts

The Lexus TZ feels like an important step for Toyota’s luxury brand.

For years, Lexus was viewed as cautious in the EV space. But the TZ shows the company is finally moving into larger, more competitive electric segments with serious products.

And instead of chasing extreme specs or flashy gimmicks, Lexus seems focused on something more practical:

👉 comfort

👉 quietness

👉 long-range usability

👉 luxury family transportation

In a market crowded with aggressive performance EVs, that approach might actually stand out. ⚡️
